Hey guys! My first blog post (which I am hoping will turn out okay) will be based on my personality test results.
The first of our two online personality assessments was the Big 5 Personality Test. I am going to try to post a link to my results if anybody is interested in checking them out. When I first found out my results for this test I was surprised to see a lot of what I expected my personality to be rated as. One category that surprised me was that according to the test I am a more close-minded, conventional individual. I actually have always thought of myself as being very open to new things and ideas. And thinking back to when I was taking the actual test I don't remember many questions about openness. Therefore, I have a feeling that I may have answered neutral, which may account for my close-minded result. One last result that I found interesting was how I am exactly in the middle of being an introverted versus extroverted individual. I have always wondered which of these two categories I fit into best, but a lot of how I act around others depends heavily on the situation and my particular attitude for that day. I have enjoyed taking the time to think about my personality after viewing these results, and I am excited to take the second assessment and see how the two compare!

I completely agree with your thought that your results rely on neutrality. I answered a lot of the questions with the same attitude and my results seem to be the same, somethings were right on what I expected and others surprised me. I think that if someone took the test and then a week later took it again it may yield different results. I know for myself my mood would affect how I answer the questions too.. I think the tests more accurately portray your personality at that point or stage in your life, mood included.
ReplyDeleteI think that you are one of the people that have experienced the harshness of this test. Most people can't be put into one spot or another, such as introvert and extrovert. This test just tells them they are neither. I agree with you that when it depends on the situation the test will just tell you your in the middle. Personally I recieved the results that I would and was thankful I did not get any confusing results.
ReplyDeleteThe problem that I see with these tests is that the number of questions was fairly low. When you think about trying to get a full perspective of a person's personality you would believe they would ask as many questions as they can throw at you in order to be more accurate. That is just my opinion and I think that the results would vary greatly if you took a test with 200 questions instead of 75-100. Repeat questions solidify a "correct" response and can eliminate room for error not that any test can 100% be accurate.
